Secure Doors for Alternative Provision Academy
One of our academy trusts came to us with a requirement to replace a quantity of both internal and external doors with sturdy steel items.
Several of their sites specialise in non-mainstream education for students in Primary through to Key Stage 4 who are at risk of permanent exclusion or who have already been permanently excluded from mainstream education. Therefore the need for secure and robust doors was paramount, and also reliable and hardy access control systems. Several timber items in the past had been damaged through force and vulnerable non-toughened glass windows had been either cracked or smashed.
We decided to replace these with steel door sets fitted with Paxton door access control using maglocks and in some cases, centrally mounted Trimec V-locks to provide rock solid door security.
The main internal entrance doors at one site were custom designed and bespoke built – we built a double boarded stud wall with infill panels around the new steel doors & frame for additional strength and security. Paxton access control and maglocks were installed to the internal and external set of doors to securely control access to the site. Vision panels with toughened safety glass were also installed so staff could see into the adjoining reception areas.
In addition, a number of external doors were replaced across their sites, and these were supplied with new steel frames to suit, together with panic bars for external fire doors and Outside Access Devices. Some of these doors also had Paxton door access control installed along with the appropriate Net2 Pro software to allow detailed configuration of the security permissions and settings.
Not only have these new doors upgraded the security of the premises and resiliency of controlling access for pupils and students, but the pre-finished powder coated steel leaves look great, providing an aesthetic boost for the site.
