Outside Learning Area for Derby School

We were asked to provide an outside shelter solution for a local school, which would be used for small group outdoor learning and other purposes. The budget was tight as the school only had a small amount of budget left to use up, so we had to come up with a solution to fit! The open three sided ‘quad’ area between school buildings was identified as being a suitable area to construct the shelter. Treated timber stanchion’s were sunk into the ground securely and treated timber crossmembers were installed providing a solid frame for a thick and robust clear polycarbonate roof. Half round guttering and downpipes were installed to take rainwater to a local drain point, rather than deposit it onto the existing flat roof. Finally, a front fascia board was installed along the eaves on the completely open side to provide more shelter from the worst of the elements. We look forward to seeing this space getting used and giving the school more creative learning opportunities!
