Office Fit-Out in BioCity Nottingham

Box09 were contracted to remodel a large open plan office at BioCity in Nottingham. The brief was to add partition walls to the space to create 3 additional rooms for the client who was acquiring the office for their IT personnel. The 3 new rooms would be used as a meeting room (the larger of the 3), an office, and an IT store room.

The existing LED panel lighting was relocated to suit the new office locations, allowing for the new dividing walls. The lighting ring was split into three circuits allowing each room to have its own light switch.

Galvanised stud partition ceiling and floor track was installed to form the outer framework for the new rooms, and these were then boarded one side with high density fibre board to give acoustic properties. The stud wall was then infilled with fire resistant insulation batts, and the other side of the wall was now boarded with the high density fibre board.

Dark grey powder coated door frames were installed along with walnut effect doors to match the existing main door into this office, with the new meeting room and new office having vision panels as well. The store room door is solid and all doors had locks fitted.

Plaster boards were installed and skimmed, prepped and decorated in a colour agreed with the client. Architrave and skirting was mitred installed and decorated, and the bespoke glass window for the small office was installed into the constructed aperture.

Over 80 square metres of 100mm thick poly pads were installed above the ceiling grid to dampen the acoustics and limit noise travel between the rooms.

Power and data sockets were installed as appropriate into the new rooms, and perimeter dado containment was utilised to house this. Some of the walls were ply lined to accommodate the mounting of a large display on the office wall, and also a comms cab and distribution board in the store room. A data link was pulled back to this satellite cab from the existing comms room using existing cable routes, and a link from the main distribution supply was installed into the new remote disti board.
