Installing Power Poles into Hospital Decontamination Units
One challenge is how to get power and data into the middle of a room where mobile machinery is constantly moving around. This can often be the case in hospital operating theatres, treatment rooms, wards and decontamination units.
Despite a solid ceiling being in place we were able to core drill through and route power and data cables and drop down into the room using a power pole. This system uses dual compartments to separate power and data which otherwise can interfere and cause packet loss.
Usually power and data can only be installed into perimeter dado or trunking or into floor boxes. Both these solutions result in fixed positions either at the outer edge of the room, or stationed above a floor box. With the power pole solution in place, mobile units can be placed around the central pole as another option for the hospital.
